India's official entry, regional language film may have not made it to the final Oscar nominations but nonetheless India has something to celebrate about.
We've learnt Anil Ambani owned Reliance DreamWorks has garnered 11 Oscar Nominations for 3 of their films: War Horse, The Help and Real Steel. This is the first time an Indian owned company has been nominated in such a big way at the Oscars.
The Best Film category that nominates 9 films has two films from the Reliance DreamWorks stable- War Horse and The Help.
Steven Spielberg directed War Horse has been nominated in 6 categories that include The Best Picture, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Original Score (John Williams), Art Direction and Cinematography.
The Help has been nominated for The Best Picture, Best Actress ( Viola Davis), Best Supporting Actress (Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer).
Hugh Jackman starrer sci- fi thriller Real Steel has been nominated for Best achievement in Visual Effects.
War Horse releases in India on 10th February.
