What made Steven Spielberg cry

One of the Hollywood's most successful and influential filmmakers and multiple Oscar winning director, Steven Spielberg presents a heartwarming tale for all ages in his upcoming film War Horse, which has bagged six Oscar nominations including 'Best Picture'.

Originally a novel published in 1982, War Horse was an instant success across the world. In 2007, the novel was adapted into a stage play at London's National Theatre and received an overwhelming response from the audience. When Spielberg saw the play, he loved it so much that seven months later he had already started making a film on it, such was his passion towards the project.

"When my wife and I flew to London, we got a chance to see War Horse for the first time, and that really sealed the deal, as far as I was concerned. One of the things that attracted me to the story was the silent communication between man and animal," says Spielberg.

War Horse is the heartwarming story set during World War I of a miraculous horse named Joey and his trainer Albert. This DreamWorks and Reliance Entertainment film, which releases in India on February 10, follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring lives of all those he meets - British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter.

"The hope that Joey brings to Albert and to every human character in the play, made me cry," admits Spielberg candidly.
